The RainMaker
Animation, Production & Editing (WIP 2024)
This short animation explores the themes of innocence, curiosity, and consequences. It follows Na, a young shaman rainmaker who lives in a village that depends on her ability to summon rain. One day, she is lured away by a firefly that leads her deep into the forest where she encounters a mysterious and playful bear spirit known as a Kachina.
The Kachina recognizes Na’s power and tricks her into performing her rain dance by playing music. Na, unaware of the Kachina’s intentions, happily dances along. However, as she dances, the Kachina disappears and the rain becomes a torrential downpour that floods the forest and destroys her village. Na realizes too late that she has been deceived and has to face the consequences of her actions.

After completing Studio 304's animation production classes, a three-semester course at The Art Institute of Portland, I took over The Rainmaker and continued working on the remaining shots in my spare time. This was and continues to be my best portfolio work and an example of my experience with Toon Boom Harmony.
